Best Age
The Best Age program, a new fitness program for older adults is the talk of
many of our residents, tenants and staff on campus.
The program which kicked off in July, residents actively participating in the
program 6 days a week. The program was established by Care Ventures a group
that continues to work on the improving the life of seniors.
Best Age is dedicated to helping older adults achieve their optimal health and
well being and to live life to the fullest of any age. At Talahi, the residents are
assessed by an exercise physiologist. They are then given an exercise prescription
which is carried out by trained exercise technicians that are members of
the Therapeutic Recreation Department. Residents are using hand held weights,
exercise bands and machines called the NuStep.
In the short amount of time the Best Age program has been implemented, residents
participating have not only lost weight, but also improved on transferring
abilities, balance and report an overall greater life satisfaction.
Part of the program also includes community outreach. Exercise techs are conducting
classes for the Nature’s Point Assisted Living as well as Adult Day Services.
Members of the community are also welcome and encouraged to participate.

Best Age Success Stories
Rose started working out on the Nustep near the end of her Physical and Occupational therapy after a knee surgery. Rose participated in both classes and Nustep till shortly before her second knee surgery. Due to her hard work she has recovered faster from surgery than she would have without the program.
Before Best Age she was look at a permanent nursing home placement, I am happy to report that Rose has moved out to the nursing home to an assisted living apartment. Way to go Rose!
Harlan a resident on the memory loss unit has needed the assists of a Nursing Assitant to get from a sit to stand position for about 9 months before he started the Best Age program. Three weeks after he started Best Age he got up on his own out of a recliner. It was shocking and exciting to see this fantastic change. |
